Low-complexity hybrid interference cancellation for sparse code multiple access

Abstract Sparse Code Multiple Access (SCMA) is one of Non Orthogonal (NOMA) candidates for 5G, the fifth generation mobile network. overlapped blocks SCMA code are transmitted per frequency layer which compels receiver to cancel unwanted blocks. Thanks sparsity SCMA, Message Passing Algorithm (MPA) achieves near-optimal performance. Nevertheless, this process time-consuming and has a high degree complexity even if Max-Log used. The major contribution paper propose new decoding scheme called Hybrid Interference Cancellation (HIC) reduce time processing without degrading target Bit Error Rate (BER). HIC decodes removes strongest user, reducing Log Domain MPA remaining users, followed by Low Density Parity (LDPC) decoder. interference cancellation decoder either hard or soft cancellation. originality calculate threshold value based on power measurements decide whether should be used reach BER with lower complexity. Results show significant reduction in terms as compared traditional same values BER.
